AI Customer Service Statistics and What They Do Not Prove

AI Customer Service Statistics | Sources and Limits - editorial illustration

AI customer service statistics describe particular surveys, research settings or forecasts. They are useful context, not Launchzy customer results or guaranteed returns. The figures below link to their publishers and identify the period and type of evidence. Use your own baseline when evaluating an implementation.

Reported adoption and value

Salesforce's May 2026 State of Service summary reports a survey of 3,075 service professionals conducted in March and April 2026.

  • 66% of surveyed service organizations reported using AI agents, compared with 39% in the prior-year report.
  • 70% of adopting organizations reported measurable value within 60 days.
  • Customer satisfaction was the most commonly improved KPI reported after deployment.

These are vendor-published survey findings. They do not mean every business will adopt AI or obtain the same result.

Pressure to implement is not proof of returns

Gartner's February 2026 release describes an October 2025 survey of 321 service and support leaders. 91% reported executive pressure to implement AI. That measures leadership pressure, not successful deployment or revenue.

Research and modeled potential

McKinsey's June 2023 analysis summarizes a customer-support study that observed 14% more issues resolved per hour with an AI assistant. It separately estimates customer-care productivity potential worth 30% to 45% of function costs. An observed result in one setting and modeled potential across functions are different kinds of evidence.

The support study concerned an assistant helping human agents. It does not show that an autonomous receptionist can replace staff or deliver the same gain.

A forecast is not a measured outcome

Gartner's August 2022 forecast projected an $80 billion reduction in global contact-center agent labor costs in 2026. This was a forecast issued in 2022, not a verified 2026 saving or a Launchzy result.

How to use these figures

Keep the study setting, publication date, sample and metric beside each claim. Do not turn survey adoption into proof of financial return. Review how to measure AI ROI and confirm your own baseline, full operating costs and human responsibilities.

Review the workflow before promising a result

Agree supported tasks, access, escalation and measurement before activation.
